bombardier re-launches flexible benefits scheme with thomsons online benefits

Bombardier, a world-leading manufacturer of innovative transportation solutions, has re-launched their flexible benefits scheme "preference" in conjunction with Thomsons Online Benefits.

"preference" has been re-launched to coincide with moving the scheme completely online for the first time. Bombardier's 3,600 UK employees can now view their Total Reward Statement online and choose from a variety of benefits including carbon offsetting which has been introduced for the first time this year.

To promote the re-launch a unique communications solution was adopted where images of Bombardier employees were used in posters to communicate each benefit to staff. A personalised leaflet was also sent to employees home address outlining the benefits available, how to logon to the site and a z-card explaining how to make selections online.

Victoria Stewart, UK Benefits Advisor at Bombardier comments: "We are very pleased with our decision to move our scheme completely online. The challenge in a manufacturing environment is inspiring employees to take the time to make their selections. Using our own staff in posters was a great idea to arouse interest in "preference". We have had a great response so far with the number of employees making flexible benefits choices increasing from 76% to 81%."

With the majority of employees having only limited access to the internet, computers were made available at each site, along with a helpline and clinics to walk employees step by step through the selection process.
