Asda raises profile of staff well-being
Employees at Wal-Mart-owned supermarket Asda will be provided health and fitness advice, health checks and healthy food options in a three-week wellbeing drive at all of its stores.

Starting on June 9th, employees at the chain's 329 shops will be able to choose from a range of healthier snacks and meals from its canteens and vending machines, reports publication Employee Benefits.

The second week will attempt to raise awareness about health issues and employees will have the opportunity to have blood pressure and diabetes tests at in-store pharmacies.

Sam Smith, colleague relations team leader at Asda, said: "What we're trying to do is raise awareness, but we don't want to force people into a healthy lifestyle if they don't want to do that."

It was also stated that the aim of the scheme was to raise awareness and offer more choices to staff within the store.

The final week of the programme focuses on physical activity and advice about how to get into shape will be made available.

According to Easier Finance, around 20,000 Asda employees are to share a £37.5 million payout as a result of participating in a save-as-you-earn share plan.
