Hundreds of school workers 'may strike' Hundreds of school workers in Waltham Forest may strike when the management of education changes hands over the loss of pensions.
The value of support workers pensions in the area may fall after the control of education was taken away from the local authority due to poor performance.
EduAction was previously given a special dispensation to provide pensions to workers under a local government scheme but the council has yet to decide whether it will continue to do so after its contract ends on 31st March.
Unison outreach worker Steve Woodhouse said: "As things stand, EduAction has been told it can no longer operate the local government pension scheme. There has been an appeal to the Department of Communities and Local Government but a decision has been delayed. I'm not optimistic that the pensions will remain.
He added that strike action is a "possibility" but it depends on the "strength of feeling" and its members will be consulted.
EduAction is a company which aims to deliver key services to schools.
