Museum staff go on strike
Staff at the Museum of London have gone on strike to protest a two per cent two-year pay rise, it has emerged.

They were also joined by colleagues from the Museum of London Archeology, which resulted in the closure of at least ten archeological sites around London.

Employees had voted nine to one in favour of a strike, despite the museum claiming that the figure was half of that, according to the BBC.

Dave Allen, from the union Prospect which represents museum employees, said: "Today's strike demonstrates the strength of feeling among our 200 members at the museum."

He added that the pay offer was "derisory", claiming that the pay award was 13 months late and half the rate of inflation.

Mr Allan also asserted that the Treasury has a "stranglehold" on the museum that prevents it from offering a fair reward in order to keep hold of the specialist staff required to do the job.

Staff members from the National Museum of Science and Industry have set Friday June 13th as the first day in a series of one-day strikes over an "insulting" pay deal.
