New postal strike looms New dates for further strike action by postal workers are expected to be announced this week in the ongoing dispute between management and employees at Royal Mail.
Arguments over employee reward issues have dogged attempts to settle the dispute, which has seen management offer an improved 6.7 per cent two-year deal only for the Communication Workers Union (CWU) reject the plan due to its linkage to modernisation of working practices.
The Royal Mail is said to be about to push ahead with the plans, which it regards as being vital to the future success of the business, despite the threat of further action, This is Money reports.
CWU Newcastle branch area organising secretary Tony Pollington told the Shields Gazette further action was "almost definite".
However, Royal Mail chief executive Adam Crozier told the same paper: "We are losing business because we have failed to change and modernise."
