NHS staff offered three-year pay deal NHS staff have been offered a three-year pay deal by the government which is worth an eight per cent pay rise.
As part of the deal, which does not mention employee benefits, more than a million members of staff will receive a 2.75 per cent pay rise from 1st April this year.
Health secretary Alan Johnson said: "I am extremely proud of the outstanding professionalism of NHS staff and the high level of care they deliver for patients day in, day out. A multi-year deal ensures security for staff and allows them to plan for their future and the future of their families."
The minimum starting salary for nurses will now be above £20,000 for the first time because of the new deal.
Nursing unions have welcomed the offer, with the Royal College of Nursing saying it is better than they expected.
The Royal College of Nursing represents nursing in the UK and promotes excellence in practice.
Conversion courses are currently attracting a host of new teaching candidates across the country as teachers seek a career change, it has been stated.
