Oil refinery workers unhappy with pension changes Workers at an oil refinery in Grangemouth are planning strike action over changes to their pensions scheme.
It is feared that strike action from the workers could result in disruption to fuel supplies to airports and garages across the UK.
Unite National officer Phil McNulty said: "We are outraged by the company's plans to close the final salary pension scheme when it has taken £40m from the scheme and slashed its own contributions."
According to Unite, up to 1,200 workers will strike over the pension changes after a ballot revealed 97 per cent were in favour of taking industrial action.
The oil refinery operator, Ineos, has revealed its concern about the union's approach to safety.
Ineos has said that Unite has told the company that its members will not give safety cover during the strike, giving them just ten days to make the plant safe.
Unite the union is the largest union in the UK and has over two million members.
