One in three employees 'ready to leave their jobs'
A third of UK employees feel that they will be moving jobs within the next year, new research can reveal.

Some 17 per cent of staff plan on leaving their jobs as soon as possible, with 12 per cent anticipating a move within the next 12 months, according to market research company GfK NOP.

It is alleged that one of the main problems is a lack of manager engagement, with 64 per cent of staff who feel disengaged with managers stating their intention to leave by the end of the year.

Speaking to magazine Personnel Today, associate director at GfK NOP Employee Research Sukhi Ghataore, said: "These results make worrying reading for employers. However, the good news is that often simple methods of engaging and rewarding employees can go a long way to enhancing satisfaction and improving loyalty."

Other findings from the research include that 69 per cent of respondents who are dissatisfied with their employers are prepared to leave their jobs within a year.

According to a report in industry publication the Lawyer, research shows that those working in the legal sector are the happiest in their jobs, with eighty-eight per cent of legal staff rating their workplace happiness as three out of five or above.
