Osun workers resume strike Workers in Nigeria of the Osun state-owned tertiary institutions have resumed their industrial action this week over pay and employee reward.
The workers are claiming that they are being underpaid compared to institutes in other states in the south-west of Nigeria, reports the Nigerian Tribune.
Institutions which have been affected by the action include Osun State College of Technology, Colleges of Education at Ila-Oragun and Ilesa and Osun Polytechnic in Iree.
Strike action was suspended originally after the state traditional rulers intervened to ask workers to take the matter up with the state governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
The action has forced the Osun State House of Assembly to now intervene but a spokesperson for the union has denied that it is being influenced by politicians.
Osun state is an inland state in south-west Nigeria, it was created as a modern state in 1991 and has an estimated population of 4,137,627.
