Over seven in ten 'want paid training' A recent poll has discovered that 71 per cent of workers would like the legal entitlement to paid time off for training, a human resources news website reported.
Personnel Today revealed results from a YouGov survey taken out by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and Unionlearn, which interviewed 2,857 workers between the ages of 18 and 24 to understand opinions on training schemes.
It found that 60 per cent of people, if presented with the ability to take time off for training and get paid, would accept the opportunities presented to them to develop themselves professionally.
TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said that the government "must ensure that any new right to request training is strong enough to make a genuine difference" or else employers will "continue to moan" about a lack of worker skills.
Unionlearn continues to lead this campaign, stating that it wants to increase workers' "life chances" through union learning.
