Paid overtime for one in ten IT workers One in ten IT workers have told a recent survey that they get paid for working overtime in their jobs, it has emerged.
In a poll of 500 IT specialists by theitjobboard.co.uk, it was found that a further 27 per cent worked between 48 and 60 hours a week with five per cent even working as much as 60 to 75 hours during the seven-day stretch.
However, it also noted that a minority of 15 per cent had actually taken the issue up with their boss.
Alex Farrell, managing director of the website, said: "With our research showing that a significant amount of IT workers find it difficult to maintain relationships or suffer ill health, the UK's culture of working long hours needs to be addressed."
This week, Senator Barack Obama criticised the offshore outsourcing industries for taking away IT jobs in the US, adding that one in ten workers had been displaced, news provider IDG said.
