PFA chief takes home over £1m The chief executive of the Professional Footballers Association was paid over £1 million last year, it has emerged.
Personneltoday.com reported the results of the annual report of the Certification Officer which found that footballers' union boss Gordon Taylor received £1,027,034 and £20,328 in benefits, a salary package which the website has said "dwarfs that of his counterparts in rugby and cricket".
It added that the heads of many unions in England and Wales "received generous six-figure pay packets at a time when many of them are railing against low pay among their members".
Dave Prentis of Unison, a figure central to recent strikes at councils over the country, received £89,502 with £34,993 in benefits, the news provider continued, with Brendan Barber of the Trade Union Congress taking home £109,830.
Yesterday, Mr Prentis hailed Gordon Brown's decision to give in to union pressure after recent strikes as a return to the party's "core values", the Guardian reported.
