Shell lorry drivers confirm strike action The breakdown of talks between lorry drivers who deliver fuel to Shell petrol stations and their employers meanS that industrial action could soon happen.
Hoyer and Suckling, which employs Shell's drivers, and the Unite union were in talks over a 6.8 per cent pay rise for drivers, according to the BBC.
Unite is demanding minimum pay of £36,000 a year, however, Hoyer and Sucking assert that staff already earn more.
Len McCluskey, Unite assistant general secretary said: "This dispute could have been resolved if Shell had advanced a fraction of the billions of pounds in profit they make every month."
He added the strike action will begin today, Friday 13th June, and will for on for four days.
The Guardian reports that a total of 641 drivers will be taking action that will affect Shell petrol stations, which account for one in ten of UK petrol stations.
News of the action follows the decision by Spanish hauliers to stage indefinite protests over the rising cost of fuel.
