SNP: Westminster has short-changed Scottish pensions
The Scottish National Party (SNP) has said that the British government is short-changing police by not making money available for nationwide pension revisions, it has emerged.

Labour has told countered accusations by telling the SNP to pay for their own reforms, adding that it needed to face up to its responsibilities as a government, the BBC reported.

Retiring police officers, rescue service workers and firefighters under the scheme will be allowed to convert more of their pension into a lump sum payment.

Aberdeen North's MSP Brian Adam told the Press & Journal that the Barnett Formula, under which the extra funding for England and Wales was worked out, should be applied to Scotland as well.

He said: "The Treasury's refusal to provide Scotland with the funds to implement the new pension scheme for the police and fire and rescue services is bewildering."

Last week, the Daily Record revealed that there was around £450 million in unclaimed benefits in Scotland, something the newspaper labelled as "nothing short of a national disgrace".
