Teaching is 'safe job' in current climate for City workers
Conversion courses are currently attracting a host of new teaching candidates across the country as teachers seek a career change, it has been stated.

According to John Connolly, the head of the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA), many people are leaving their jobs in the City of London.

He continued: "Teaching is increasingly being seen as a safe port in the storm and people who have made their money in the City [of London] in the last few years now want a career change and want to give something back."

Mr Connolly added that with many of them being science graduates, it was the perfect time for them to make the switch due to the relative dearth of teachers in that department of schools across the country.

The TDA is currently on a recruitment drive through video networking website YouTube, showing five "real and creative" school science lessons that aim to prove that the topic is fun and great to teach.
