Train drivers to strike Train drivers at South West Trains are to strike for four days following a dispute over pay, employee reward and hours.
A ballot of members of the union Aslef resulted in 73 per cent of train drivers voting in favour for the strike action.
Managing director Stewart Palmer said: "We are very disappointed that Aslef has taken this decision as we believe that this is a very good offer in the current economic climate."
The union has said that its members will be striking on 31st March to 3rd April after rejecting the latest pay offer.
South West Trains has offered a pay increase of 4.5 per cent and all other trade unions have advised their embers to accept this deal. The company has said that it will be running at least 300 train services each day during the strike.
Aslef is the trade union for train drivers in the UK and has more than 18,500 members.
