TUC: Workers want fair pay and good workmates A report released by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) today has found that six million workers - or one in four - are not satisfied with their job, after taking out an "extensive" YouGov poll.
Called What Workers Want, the study was taken out in preparation for the 140th Congress and found that the biggest thing that workers looked for in a job was fair pay, with 98 per cent of employees of the 2,500 surveyed citing it as their main desire.
It added that others find good company from fellow workers as another attractive factor to a job, with nine out of ten respondents believing it to be of major importance.
Commenting on the study's findings, TUC general secretary Brendan Barber said: "We are campaigning for the issues that matter to people at work, with TUC priorities getting the thumbs-up from both trade unionists and non-members too. There are lessons here for politicians."
Last week, the TUC announced that 3.3 people were fearing for their job safety over the next year due to the current economic situation.
