UK museum staff vote for strike
Specialist staff at the UK national science museum have voted in favour of a strike over pay and employee reward.

It is reported that members of the union Prospect are unhappy that they have not received a pay offer which was due in April 2007.

Emily Boase, Prospects negotiations officer, said: "Members have had to endure an effective pay freeze for ten months. The failure to even make an offer for 2007 pay is incompetence of the highest order."

She added that the union is giving the museum a "last chance" to save the public from a "totally unnecessary" dispute.

Members of the union at the National Railway Museum in York, the Science Museum in Swindon and the National Media Museum in Bradford have also voted to take strike action.

Prospect has more than 102,000 members in the private and public sectors. It negotiates with over 300 employers and also has experience in campaigning.
