Vodafone offers staff NVQ course
Mobile phone company Vodafone has expanded its staff development programme and now offers all of its retail employees the chance to follow a development scheme.

All 2,200 of the company's retail team are able to enrol in the NVQ accredited development process, which enables progress from trainee advisor through to regional manager.

Since its inception in November 2007, some 400 employees had gained an NVQ by April of this year.

"We know that there is a direct link between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction and we are confident that this programme will give both a significant boost," commented Tom Devine, director of consumer sales for Vodafone UK.

He added that the programme is designed so that no employees are excluded, because there are no academic prerequisites for joining the programme.

It is believed that all six levels of the NVQ could be completed in around three years.

NVQ's were created following a 1986 review of vocational qualifications in England and Wales which recommended their introduction to address weaknesses in the vocational system.
